To begin with, where were we 6 months ago?

At the time of writing this article it's the 1st of February, and 6 months ago we were in August. And to tell you, August was a special month for us.

It's been a few months since Lance Priebe, the Creator of Club Penguin quoted a tweet from Frog Paradise 🐸, which gave us a considerable start-up boost. 🚀

Thank you very much Lance for your support and we hope to see you testing Frog Paradise soon! 🐸✨

Why this month was so ✨ SPECIAL ✨? Ew, don't you remember? 🤔

This is the month we got the first community video speaking about Frog Paradise! 😳🐸

It's @Sn2ckerspupCP a Venezuelan youtuber who made it! Many thanks to him! 💚

Also, this is the month we just reached the 400 followers! It was a good Milestone, and we promised to reveal a full room for the 500 followers!

Once we had reached our goal, we had made the revelation. The room that we revealed was the Forest. 🌲✨

The forest is both a mysterious and warm place, it is an ideal place to meet other frogs! We invite you to look at every detail of this room... 👀

Also, this is the month we started teasing the release of the game! 🤯

That's it for the month of August. Obviously there were other things, but these are some of the highlights. I may have forgotten some and I can't put it all in!

September was a rather quiet month, we were mainly focused on the development of the game.

But the communication didn't stop, the frogs got a new reveal of a room, which is the Tavern!

The Tavern is the place to be to chat with other frogs! While drinking a good Blue Pisku! 🍻

We revealed this new room because we reached 700 followers on Twitter!

Once again, many thanks to Lance Priebe the creator of Club Penguin for his support! It means a lot to us as we put our hearts into creating Frog Paradise 💚

Also, Zozor the journalist started to tell daily anecdotes about Frog Paradise in the Discord... you could learn more about the characters of the world, the environment or simply what was going on! 🗞

Frog Paradise is a living world, there is something happening every day in Frog Paradise! ☀️

There is an anecdote that has particularly marked the community.... and the reactions came quickly! 🍻

Anecdotes are also used to announce future features, but shhhhh... it's a secret.

Yes, there are! We share a lot of sneak-peeks and information about the game on social networks but I don't have the space to talk about everything here! (Well, I don't want to spread out)

The good news is that we got custom emojis on the Frog Paradise Discord! Thanks to the talented Alex Ronay who drew them just for the community! 💚

Also, we shared a sneak-peek of a new room, still not revealed yet 👀

It is with all this news that we end the month of October here... 🫡

But I reassure you, the next month is... exciting! 😋✨

Bienvenue aux grenouilles!

It's the translation of "Welcome Frogs" in French. For good reason, it was in November that the game Frog Paradise was released in Closed Alpha 🎉 !

Finally! After almost a year since the beginning of the project, Frog Paradise is finally online! 🐸

This includes the arrival of the Batch 1 of players, for this batch we had selected only about thirty players. We selected the most active frogs on social networks talking about Frog Paradise. I will explain later on why this number is so low.

So Marco, how did the launch go?

Well, how can I put this.... Frog Paradise was launched two hours late! 😡

Yes I am TOTALLY guilty, in fact there were still a lot of things missing to put online and I rushed everything at the same time... I had to deploy the servers, database, update the game, fix bugs and add missing content... Yes I could have foreseen that, but I already had a lot of work the days before! 😭

The most important thing is that the game is online and playable now, right?

2 hours after the announced date, we launched and what had to happen happened...

BANG! 💥 A score of frogs suddenly arrived in Frog Paradise... They started to run around, the COAC sounds started to effuse in all directions...

The frogs started to discover the rooms of the game, carefully designed by the amazing Duqo... It was a memorable moment for all. The beginning of Frog Paradise! 🐸

The frogs have started sharing images of Frog Paradise on social networks! 👀

The frogs have also recorded videos on YouTube, and yes, the first gameplay video of Frog Paradise has been published by the community!

Upon arriving in the world of Frog Paradise for the first time, frogs were rewarded with a basic frog emoji and the Alpha Batch 1 Badge.

Is there anything special about this party?

Yes, the rooms in Frog Paradise were decorated to welcome the new frogs, that's why the party was called "Welcome Frogs"! 🙏

At this party, the frogs could have two very cool things:
1 - The Alpha Party Hat!
2 - Free Blue Pisku!

So cool! So, a hat I know what it is, it's to put on your head! But what about the Blue Pisku? 🍺

To make a long story short, Blue Pisku is a blue beer that can be served at the tavern, it is a new and special beer that many frogs love... You will know more in the future... 👀

It was also in this month that we started to collaborate for 2 months with the École Gobelins in Paris, which is an image school.

They helped us with UX/UI issues on the game and we were even able to do some testing in a lab with players.

That's all for this month of November, obviously there are lots of other details but I can't put everything you see! 😋

Come on! Let's move on to December, it's a hell of a month, there's snow and everything... ❄️🎅

Bonus

When we launched Frog Paradise, Nicolas was not available as he was watching a rugby match! He couldn't miss it, so he took out his computer to play with the frogs! A wise decision! 🐸

December was a big month. Because snow ❄️ fell on the world of Frog Paradise, the Christmas Party has arrived!

So... how can I put it... we were a bit late as the Christmas party and decorations arrived half way through the month... but at least we got to celebrate Christmas together!

The rooms have been decorated in a Christmas theme!

The frogs even decorated the tree in the forest as a Christmas tree!

Also, the frogs had another little surprise... Froggy Santa arrived on December 24th in game and distributed gifts 🎁 to all the good frogs of Frog Paradise! What a surprise! ✨

There were three different presents, one pink, one red and one white! I wonder when the frogs will be able to open them 👀 to see what's inside!

It's with this party that some new items were introduced, the frogs were allowed to have a hot chocolate with the possibility to hold the cup in hand, the arrival of a new Christmas emoji that was hidden somewhere in the world and finally a Christmas hat!

That's all for the items? Mhh... Not really... Did you forget?

The Advent Calendar !

The advent calendar was a big thing at this party, the frogs had the opportunity to collect a daily claim in the big red sock in the forest every day! It could be sweets, gingerbread, chocolate...

It was also in December that the friends list feature ✨ was introduced. Frogs could finally be added as friends, but that's not all, this one came with a very useful feature, that of knowing where your friend is and joining them quickly via a button!

No need to search for your friend, he is simply in your friend list! ✅

By the way, there is something I would like to tell you...

I introduced Frog Paradise to one of the richest entrepreneurs on the planet 😳

Indeed, at the end of my first cycle at the 42 incubation programme of the 42 school I was able to present Frog Paradise to Xavier Niel, a French billionaire businessman and the founder of Iliad, a French telecommunications group.

It went really well, the pitch was well framed and the audience really enjoyed Frog Paradise, can't wait to do it again! 🐸

In December, we were also entertained by Lewii ✨ playing at Frog Paradise! A fun and good mood live, thanks a lot Lewii! 💚

So it was a month with a lot of intensity... I hope next Christmas will be even better! ☃️

January in contrast to the last few months was a bit quieter... Because our focus has changed, and we're trying to concentrate on developing features and improving the chat experience. ✨

We have added 5 interesting little features :

• The ability to place and retrieve items.
• The writing notification.
• The rotation of the Frog.
• The Friend Notification & Counter.
• The Player Card.

Let me explain ☝️ !

The ability to place and retrieve items

What was the reason for adding the possibility of placing items? Well, for Roleplay, when talking about Blue Pisku it's always better to know what you are talking about. Also it's fun to be able to place items all over the world.

Just open your inventory, click on an item and click on "Place" and that's it!

The writing notification

And yes! Now we know when another frog is writing!

No more cutting off someone else's speech ✅

It's easy to use, you write in the chat and a little animated bubble appears automatically!

Rotation of the Frog

Yes, you can now rotate your frog! In any direction AND now when a frog moves it stays in the direction of its movement. In the past, frogs would rotate to the front once they reached the spot.

This is ideal if you want to show something or if you want to face another frog's gaze. 👀

The Friend Notification & Counter

Now, when someone adds you as a friend, a notification at the top right appears, which is much more comfortable than looking through your friends list.

Knowing that before a simple message system warned you, which could go unnoticed, this simple notification solves many problems!

In addition, you can now easily see if any of your friends are online, a green counter in the bottom right of the screen now tells you how many of your friends are online! Where the button to open the friend list is located.

The Player Card

The player card! Well, then... it's not quite that, but it needed a slightly simpler menu to interact with the other frogs 🐸.

For example, to add a friend, before you had to write his nickname in the friends list to add him, now you just have to click on the nickname of the player to open his player card and click on "Add Friend"!

TADAAAAAM 🪄!

Congrats! You have added a friend! Although he still has to accept... 😭

As you can see, January was a month for working on features. There is still so much to develop! 😭

Let's move on to the next, most interesting part, the future of Frog Paradise!

What will Frog Paradise become? Are we going to be bought by Disney? Will the frogs have shoes? And houses? Have you thought about houses? What about the villains? Well, villains are cool? Will we be able to change the colour of our frog? What about the Froggy Jail?

Well, let's not go too fast and read what I have to say! 👀

Here we are... well... after this huge summary of the last 6 months, I'm going to tell you a bit about the future of Frog Paradise, what we plan to do and what we think about the future.

First of all, let me tell you about something very important for us. Which we have not yet addressed here.

Why?

Today social networks are participating in an unprecedented dopamine rush, with the advent of ultra-short formats such as Instagram Reels and TikToks stealing all our time and not creating or strengthening any relationships, we sincerely believe that social networks are becoming content consumption products in their own right and drifting away from their original purpose of creating and strengthening relationships between people.

Frog Paradise was born out of a desire to create something new, innovative, bold and inspiring.

Our mission is to create great social games that allow players to connect and strengthen their relationships. We believe that games can be more than just entertainment, that they can be a way to create strong and lasting bonds between people.

Challenges to tackle

Frog Paradise has the potential to become a cultural phenomenon. I think so, firstly because of the singularity of the game itself, but also because of the strength of the community that will allow it to be pushed to its full potential.

But to do that we have to make a good social game, to make Frog Paradise an incentive to create and strengthen social relationships.

Let's talk about our inspirations

Frog Paradise draws its inspiration from many successful games such as Club Penguin, Animal Crossing, Toontown and Dofus.

These are all games that I personally grew up with.

• Club Penguin was amazing for its events, its mini-games and its safety for kids. (Disney)
• Animal Crossing is fascinating for its living world, its characters and its ability to make you feel at home. (Nintendo)
• Toontown was captivating for its burlesque world, its unique RPG and its obligation to cooperate with others to succeed. (Disney)
• Dofus is a work of art for its detailed lore, advanced RPG features, and deeply memorable universe. (Ankama)

These games all have something in common, and that is that you can play with your friends or other people, the social bonding in these games is extraordinary. We think that the world lacks games like that.

Now that you know a little more about our general inspirations, let me tell you about our ideas for Frog Paradise.

Some ideas about the close future

Ideas? Don't worry, we have plenty of ideas, but we need to know how to choose them and execute them, test them, analyse them and kill them if they don't perform well enough, and then in the case that they do perform well, we always need to move on to the next one.

As I told you before, our social chat must be better than all our competitors. This is our primitive. If it's not good and the experience isn't smooth there's no point in adding fancy stuff on top.

Putting on a sweet scent 🌺 doesn't mask the bad smell 💩

That's why in the next few months we're going to work mainly on the social chat and its comfort.

Basically, we're going to work on features that will make the world more socially alive. The main focus will be on interactions between players in the social rooms.

Long term ideas

I know that you want to see further, dream, know how Frog Paradise will be in the future? The team has some ideas!

Frog Paradise is imagined as a living world, with living wildlife such as animals, insects, fish... that you can capture while exploring the world.

You are also able to collect resources, mine and cut wood, ...

The world is full of characters to interact with, each character have their secrets, habits and unique characteristics... 🌸

Malto, Merzhin, Pepe, Zozor, Dr. Roachy...

Throughout the adventure, there will be quests and puzzles to solve... 🤨

Sometimes things will happen in the world 🎉, characters will visit you 🌺, sometimes it will be more quiet... 🤐

You will be able to choose who will accompany you on this froggy adventure 🐹

And the frogs you will meet along the way... 🐸

in the end, ONLY YOU will decide how you will build and decorate your house... 🏠

Funding

In order to do this and develop the game, we'll need to sustain it in the long term, we'll need funds.

For the moment it's not urgent, we can finance it ourselves. But I won't hide it from you, it's getting more and more difficult.

We have several solutions available to us.

We could monetise the game through various ways, a subscription, a battlepass, sell cosmetics, etc... but the game is not complete enough to have a strong value proposition.

Also, Frog Paradise is a game that requires a large liquidity of players to take in value. Implementing a "monetization" somewhere in the game is too early and could add friction that we really don't want to have.

The last solution would be that players who want to support us can do so by paying a small monthly tip on Patreon.

In exchange we could offer you some advantages like a special Discord role, a different nickname colour, a reserved badge, small exclusive items and other things...

That's what we'll do for now.

I want to make it clear though that these perks will not change the gameplay experience or the events in any way. Everyone will be able to play Frog Paradise normally. 🎉

Of course, don't feel obliged to donate anything, do it only if you have the means and if you really want to! 🐸
